Haydn in Herts is an ambitious project that gives orchestral players of Grade 6 and above the opportunity to rehearse and play through all 104 of the symphonies composed by Joseph Haydn.
The first workshop took place during the Watford Live! festival in July 2010. Workshops are now generally run on the second Sunday of most months at Christ Church, St. Albans Road Watford.
If you are available to play all 104 symphonies it will be great, but if not, why not come along and join in when you can. The plan is to cover around four symphonies each session.
The workshops are generally conducted by Terry Edwards (although there are occasionally guest conductors), with Jeanne Mann, orchestral leader of the Watford Philharmonic, the contact for all taking part.
Everything is very informal and just as in Haydn's time, we can be flexible in the scoring. If ten basoons turn up, we can find room for you all!
The cost is £5 per workshop to cover hire of the venue, music, etc. All orchestral players are welcome - except trombone and percussion.
