The Watford Philharmonic Society was established by Sir Henry Wood (of BBC Proms fame) in 1935.  Today we are one of the largest amateur societies in the UK combining choir and orchestra and, as a result, have a massive repertoire of classical music to choose from for our performances.

Watford Philharmonic Society Choir and Orchestra in performance at the Watford Colosseum

We are based in Watford, Hertfordshire - about 20 miles north of London - and perform 4 to 5 major concerts each year locally.  We have a professional director of music which we know is important in maintaining and improving our high standards as a society and as individuals.  Click here to learn more about us and the people involved.

Why not come along to one of our concerts?  For our 77th Season - 20011/12 - we return to our traditional venue in the newly refurbished Watford Colosseum. If you already come to our concerts and want to do more, there are lots more opportunities to support us.

Or perhaps you are new to the area and are looking to play or sing regularly with a group.  We rehearse once a week and we'd be happy to welcome you along to one of our rehearsals with a view to you joining us - especially if you are a string player or sing tenor!  If you're a member of the Society already, keep up to date with news and information in our members page.
