Watford Philharmonic Society performs Verdi’s dramatic and stirring Requiem in a special joint concert with the St Albans Symphony Orchestra and guest singers from the Carlow Choral Society, Ireland. The Requiem is one of the best-known choral works and draws on Verdi’s gifts for tremendous power and emotional intensity. It has been a huge success since it was first performed in 1874.
The Requiem is operatic in style and is Verdi’s only large-scale work not intended for the stage.
The concert will open with another very popular work by Verdi - the overture to his opera Nabucco. |
