Support UsWe operate as a not-for-profit charity so support from the community of Watford is essential for our continued success. We've been making music since 1935 and will continue as long as we have the necessary support. So how can I help? Read on about attending our concerts, telling your friends and how to become a friend yourself! 1. By attending our concertsThe best way to support us is by attending our concerts. We perform 5 concerts per year, including an orchestral concert and our popular annual carol concert. And they're not cheap to put on! We need to pay for the hire of the venue, rental of staging and the services of a professional conductor and leader. In the build up to each concert we have an average of 16 rehearsals which also need to be funded, including the hire of a hall, music and the services of our professional conductor, leader and rehearsal pianist. This is money well spent to reach our own high performance standards.
If you already attend our concerts, have you considered buying a season ticket? It guarantees you a ticket for the over-subscribed carol concert, saves you the hassle of buying a ticket each time and saves you some money by committing to the full season of concerts.
2. Tell your friends! And why not invite a friend to one of our concerts? Classical music isn't everyone's taste but all music enthusiasts are welcome and if they enjoy it, we hope they'll come back and become a regular like you. At least tell them when our concerts are or pass them one of our flyers. How about getting them a concert ticket for their birthday or Christmas? Tell a friend about our web site now
3. Become a friend yourself ... for as little as £20We are happy to be supported by the Friends of Watford Philharmonic Society - individual supporters as well as business organisations - who make a donation of £20 or more towards our expenses. The names of all Friends of the Society are printed in each concert programme. If you would like to become a Friend, please send a donation to The Friends' Officer. Your name will be added to the list of Friends and we'll arrange to send you a free programme in advance of each concert at the Colosseum. Moreover, if you pay by Gift Aid, we can recover the tax deducted.
4. Keep up to date via our mailing listFinally, you can keep up to date with all our concert details via our mailing list. In particular we ensure you'll receive a brochure for the full season as soon as it is available so you can get the concert dates in your diary. And this will come along with an invitation to buy tickets in advance so beating the rush - including the money saving season ticket. To be added, simply fill in the form below, which will send your details by email to be added to our list.
